Matthew Caldwell

Matt joined Haber Lawyers in 2011 and has been practicing within our litigation department with primary focus in the area of personal injury law. His area of expertise is in motor vehicle accidents and slips, trips and falls as well as medical malpractice.

Matt was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2009 after receiving a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto. While attending law school, he served as co-editor in chief of the Journal of Law and Equality. Prior to attending law school, Matt obtained a Bachelor of Arts and Science and a Bachelor of Music degree from McMaster University, as well as a diploma in vocal music performance.

Matt articled at a large insurance defence firm in Hamilton, where he was able to observe how insurance companies and their lawyers deal with claims. Since joining the litigation department at Haber Lawyers, he has put that experience to work exclusively for injured plaintiffs. Matt has previous experience in family law, as well as estate matters and civil litigation. He has successfully represented plaintiffs in all levels of court in Ontario, including Superior Court trials and the Court of Appeal, as well as numerous out-of-court settlements.

Matt is active in music, singing with Kokoro in the Hamilton/Guelph/Kitchener-Waterloo area, and various groups in Hamilton. He enjoys playing and coaching ultimate frisbee and is an executive board member of the Hamilton Ultimate Club. Matt has also done pro bono legal work for SOCKS, a local non-profit organization that supports orphans in Kenya.
