Meaghan Smith
Called to the Bar in 2014, Meaghan is a Burlington native and family law lawyer. From the early days of her education, she has dedicated her life to family, child protection and criminal law. Since joining Haber Lawyers in 2016, she has applied that knowledge and expertise to helping our clients with all things family law-related, including parenting issues, support and division of assets.
As a member of the Office of the Children’s Lawyer personal rights panel, Meaghan excels at advocating for children in high-conflict custody and access disputes, as well as child protection proceedings. Her expertise lies in reading children’s maturity to better help them adjust through difficult periods. She is particularly adept at meeting the added challenges of clients and their families coping with mental health, substance and domestic abuse-related issues.
After earning her Bachelor of Social Work at Ryerson University, Meaghan attended the University of Windsor, simultaneously earning a Juris Doctor and Masters of Social Work. Upon graduation, she articled for the Duty Counsel Family Criminal Law in St. Catharines.
With a knack for zeroing in on clients’ most pressing concerns, she excels at relaying precise explanations of negotiation and courtroom communications, invariably providing options with optimum benefit to all parties.
